When kicking off with a new client, oftentimes one of the first things we do is review their public persona to offer feedback on what we think works, what doesn’t, and what could be changed to enhance the optics of the company. Afterall, a company’s website and/or social media profiles are usually the first formal introduction it has to its potential customers, partners, or investors – if it’s not up to snuff, it could drive people away.
FischTank has performed this exercise dozens and dozens of times for large market cap businesses to bootstrapping startups (and companies of all sizes in between), entrepreneurs and influencers, and yet somehow someone always slipped through the cracks – us.
Funny, right? You’d think a marketing and public relations firm would understand the value of actually … marketing their own company, and surely we do. But with such a focus on producing terrific results for our clients we often overlooked ourselves and the gateway to our own public persona.
As we got toward the end of 2019 – a year in which we reached milestones for revenue, client growth, employee growth, and new FischTank babies – Eric and I decided it was finally time we fully practice what we preach. Maybe #DecadeChallenge provided the inspiration, or maybe it was just time to finally dig in and think through who we are now as a company and how we can improve our own public image to match. Because while our guiding principles may remain the same, we just aren’t the same company we were seven years ago. We’ve grown up … at least a little bit.
So we’re proud today to unveil our new look – the new FischTank website. We think the website really reflects a lot of the great things that have helped build our company into what it is today; the innovative companies we work with on a daily basis, some achieving things that will impact the world for years to come; the FischTankers, who are creative, hungry, and out-of-the-box thinkers when it comes to storytelling; and our identity, in New York City. As hard as it is for two Philly guys to say, NYC has become home and we like to think the hustle and grit from the city has made its way into how we work.
While you’re here, have a look around and let us know what you think. To those who have known us from the beginning, hopefully this shows what we’ve grown in to, often times both in spite of and because of ourselves. For those meeting us the first time, we’re FischTank, and we’re looking forward to working with you.
